Countryside house built in 1905 with the earnings from the harvest. The heir of the house , Josep M. Vilarmau i Cabanes, studied music and poetry in France (something very prestigious at that time). When he came back to La Vall de Merlès, due to his writing skills, he wrote for different catalan magazines. He was very intelligent and a good friend of his friends. It was quite usual to find 40 people sitting around the table at lunch time, specially within summer. A lot of distinguished figures of that period stayed in the house. He died at the peak of his career. His first son’s death could have been the cause of his passing. During the long days of his son’s illness, Vilarmau wrote a collection of poems where he transmits his demolotion and his deep faith. The most impressive poem is the one he wrote at the same day his son past away.
